Mr Porter

Being married to a girl who owns her own fashion label, I am all too familiar with premier online women’s retailer Net-A-Porter. Since launching in 2000, they have marked their place in women’s high-end fashion.  With the recent documented increase in male shopping, Net-A-Porter has just launched Mr Porter, a site directed towards the style-savvy luxury men’s market.  To appeal to men, Mr Porter will feature profiles of real life men, including a motorbike designer, a banker and a painter, wearing stylish clothes. And there will be little use of the word “fashion” on the site. “I think men feel more comfortable with the word style,” says Jeremy Langmead, editor in chief of Mr Porter. “A stylish wardrobe rather than a fashion wardrobe.”

The brand-strong site offers garments and accessories from 80+ international brands including Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, Levi’s, Paul Smith, Comme Des Garcons, and many others.  You can also see a unique collaboration between Tokyo streetwear brand A Bathing Ape and Japanese clothing company United Arrows called Mr. Bathing Ape.  The uncluttered site also offers video manuals, feature interviews from the biggest names in men’s fashion, and you can even request style advice and recommendations from friends, colleagues and Mr Porter personal shoppers.  Mr Porter offers same-day delivery in New York and London.
