Bose Soundlink vs Jawbone JamBox

Posted in Gadgets/Electronics with tags , , , on September 30, 2011 by Citifiable

In typical Bose fashion, the Soundlink Mobile Speaker has a really boring name and really impressive audio performance.  We were able to sync a phone to one of these at the Bose store in Mall of America in about two seconds.  Bluetooth music usually sounds so-so but Bose has overcome this nicely delivering clean wireless audio.  You can use it as a speaker phone and it will go for 8 hours on a rechargeable battery.  By comparison the Jawbone Jambox does exact same thing at half the size and looks a little prettier but doesn’t sound nearly as good when it comes to listening to music.  Bose is coming in at a competitive $299 price point vs. $199 for the Jambox.  Both are nice products with Jambox winning for price and portability but Bose crushing it with their sound quality.

A.P.C. x Incase

If you listen to Kid Cudi you know he loves his A.P.C. jeans.  The French brand A.P.C. was started in the late 80’s by Jean Touitou and has a really nice subtle lineup of men’s and women’s wear that’s made a resurgence lately.  Now they’ve teamed up with Incase in their continued partnership with brands and artists on Apple accessories.  The 15″ Macbook sleeve and iPad 2 case included in this capsule are both done in signature A.P.C. denim.  Unfortunately the silk-screened versions are only available from A.P.C. stores in Asia.  A.P.C. has two shops in NYC and another in LA.

Sony: Wimbledon as you’ve never seen it before Spot

Sony and Wimbledon have created a new ad designed to promote their 3D coverage of Wimbledon.  Similar to their original Sony Bravia spot where thousands of bright colored bouncy balls were thrown down the hilly streets of San Francisco, this new ad follows a massive flow of bouncing tennis balls through the quiet English streets of Wimbledon using (CGI). There is even a nod to the frog that appeared in the original commercial. The Wimbledon Finals will be filmed in 3D by Sony and subsequently shown on the BBC HD channel. An online tennis ball hunt is taking place across the Internet, primarily around Facebook, with several prizes up for grab including VIP tickets to the Women’s Final. Everything is pulled together under the slogan ‘Wimbledon, as you’ve never seen it before.’ More information can be seen here.

Created to celebrate the venerable sports network’s 30 years of operation, ESPN Films 30 for 30 ($50) is a collection of 30 separate documentaries by 30 different filmmakers chronicling 30 different sports stories.  30 for 30 originally premiered in October 2009 and concluded in December 2010.  It began with an idea from columnist Bill Simmons, who wanted feature filmmakers to recount the sports stories, people, and events from the past 3 decades. Released purposely prior to Father’s Day the complete box set is now available and includes all 30 films spread across 12 DVDs. You can also now get them on Blu-ray in one six-disc set now at Best Buy ($100). I just watched “The Two Escobars” and it was phenomenal.
