Nike recently opened a Flagship “Nike Brand Experience” location in Portland, OR.  There are tons of incredible displays in the 26,000 square foot space, one of which was released by Jordan Brand this week, the Air Jordan ‘Home Bulls’ Collection. Paying homage to the history and legacy of MJ, the collection includes every pair of Air Jordans from the Air Jordan 1 to last year’s AJ 2010. Each pair carries a similar look that features white uppers, red outsoles, red inner-liners and black laces. The entire collection is up on display at the new Nike Portland retail space, but there has been no word of a public release.

Overlooking the under-construction Barclays Center on Monday, Nets basketball team part owner Jay-Z announced that the Nets will take the name of their new home, Brooklyn, when they leave New Jersey in 2012, officially becoming the Brooklyn Nets. He also announced that he’ll personally open the Barclays Center with 1 or possibly a few special concerts when the 18,000-seat arena opens next September 2012, as well as playing a role in the design of the team’s new logo and uniform alongside adidas. All-black everything?

NFL x M&M’s

Thought this was cool when I saw it today – M&M’s has partnered with the NFL, giving customers the ability to create custom color M&M’s stamped with their favorite team logos.  There’s even custom team dispensers.  Now that the season is back on, snap some up now for your opening day BBQ.  We recommend the Steelers of course.

Nike – 1948 London Re-Opening

No stranger to innovative, game-changing retail spaces, Nike helped redefine what it means to open a storefront in the summer of 2008 when it launched 1948 in an abandoned East London railway arch. Part retail space, part creative playground, the 1948 project was designed to celebrate freedom and self-expression through the media of sport and culture – an ode to the 1948 Olympic Games in London that helped to heal a European continent and global environment still recuperating from the terror of World War II. Appropriately, the space has just undergone a massive redesign in preparation for the 2012 Olympics. The new 1948 will not only stock the most exclusive Nike footwear and apparel available, but also serve as a community space as the venerable sportswear brand has encouraged local Londoners to gather at the store for installations, screenings and events.

Sony: Wimbledon as you’ve never seen it before Spot

Posted in Film/Video, Gadgets/Electronics, Sports with tags , , , , on June 16, 2011 by Citifiable

Sony and Wimbledon have created a new ad designed to promote their 3D coverage of Wimbledon.  Similar to their original Sony Bravia spot where thousands of bright colored bouncy balls were thrown down the hilly streets of San Francisco, this new ad follows a massive flow of bouncing tennis balls through the quiet English streets of Wimbledon using (CGI). There is even a nod to the frog that appeared in the original commercial. The Wimbledon Finals will be filmed in 3D by Sony and subsequently shown on the BBC HD channel. An online tennis ball hunt is taking place across the Internet, primarily around Facebook, with several prizes up for grab including VIP tickets to the Women’s Final. Everything is pulled together under the slogan ‘Wimbledon, as you’ve never seen it before.’ More information can be seen here.

With the start of the French Open quickly approaching on May 17 at Roland Garros, Nike has released a 2011 kit for both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. In tribute to his Swiss heritage, the Signature Federer RF Collection is one of predominately red with hints of white, while the Nadal Collection focuses on blue and white. Federer will be decked out in a red polo, matching white shorts, and updated red/white tour version Lunar Vapor 8’s. Nadal on the other hand will participate wearing a similar outfit in blue, but sporting Nike Air Max Court Ballistec 3.3’s.  We expect to see them both in the finals as Nadal tries to defend his title.
